How did I go from sedentary in my thirties to having completed 79 marathons in my sixties? One thing is for certain: I didn't start out with a Master Plan. I started jogging about the time that was the buzzword, intending to work up to two miles three times a week. After 10 years of sporadic running, I entered a 5K, at the urging of a co-worker.

Little did either of us know that in that singular event, my life would be transformed forever. A second place finish in my age group whetted my appetite for more. 5Ks led to 10Ks, then 15Ks. A couple of half marathons led to the first full marathon. Eight years later a commitment to complete a marathon in every state was born. In the middle of all this, my fiance Paul became my greatest supporter.

While on this journey, I've learned a lot about distance running, made wonderful friends, and seen beautiful parts of our great country. And the journey continues.
